I have a part which is integrated with foam in the back is bolted to another Metal part. i find the torque is not applied completely while using pneumatic or electric gun. No issues observed while tightening with manual wrench. What could be the reason for the torque reduction of 50%
Torque is directly propotional to the surface area and shear strength of the substrata material.
In concept - The fM.oam has an effective 50% surface area ( reasonable & conservative assumption) when compared to a solid substrata only 50% of torque can be applied before the substrata will fail in shear.. I hope this answers your question..
The question is not clear, adding a sketch would help. The answer of mr Shivantha looks reasonable but does not explain the difference between manual wrench and pneumatic tool.
