The bottom structure looks like it has a bubbly surface (Swellings). Almost no bubbles show breakage, but a few do indicate small breaks.

The top structure shows many breaks or holes, and no larger swellings. The edge of each hole has a lip around it’s edge. This indicates an affect something like blow-through.

Just based upon what you told me, this is about all I can say about the differences between the two images.
