I have heard and read about ecological speciation for past few years but still think that it is just the same with sympatric speciation. Why should it be termed "ecological speciation" if it is just based on the same process with sympatric speciation?
ecology related to number of organisms in their surroundings, so the individual species evaluation cannot be say as 'ecological speciation'. every terminology should has valuable reason and number of time it has reviewed.
Ecological speciation is simply speciation as a result of divergent natural selection. Because this can happen within a population in a single location or in populations that have been separated, the concept can apply in allopatric, or sympatric situations. So, ecological speciation is not synonymous with sympatric speciation.
