Hi all,

I've used the ATHI scale to investigate attitudes towards homeless across two disciplines: Social Work and Computer Science. It has been validated. However, the scale only uses 11 items in total which makes me think this may be one reason. Another reason is that I am simply doing the analysis wrong. Can anyone help?

The ATHI scale has 4 sub-scales (Personal Causation, Societal Causation, Affiliation and Solutions). When analysing the PC sub-scale I get a Cronbach's alpha of .47. This subscale only has 3 items. Also, am I supposed to split these between subjects? If so, for social work students the Cronbach's alpha is .484 and for computer science students the Cronbach's alpha is .525.

Help is appreciated.
