Due to a reaction between Si and Mg during melting in Silicon mold, I am trying to produce Mg-based alloy in quartz crucible, coated with Boron-Nitride spray. Meanwhile, I did not melt composition in higher temperature than the melting point. However, I have a problem that always my composition will be charred or burnt and a few pieces of Mg remained not melted. How can I solve it? Does anyone have experience synthesis Mg-based alloys in the boron-nitride coated quartz crucible with the induction furnace?
