Increased photosynthesis cannot necessarily affect the yield, given that yield is governed by the genetic code of the plant. What you ended up with must be more dry matter, xylene and cellulose. Did you have any variance in length of fiber?

I agree. You need to measure total dry biomass to see where the increased photosynthate went, for example increased root or leaf biomass. Then you can make a chart showing biomass of individual components (y axis) versus K level (x axis) and you will have your answer

Although higher photosynthesis would result in higher growth, but it doesn't mean that the yield would be increased as well. Higher photosynthesis and higher gas exchange responses will result in more vegetative growth of the plant, however, in some plants there is a competition for photo assimilate between vegetative and generative growth. It seems in your case more of the assimilate went towards the vegetative instead of generative growth. You may also measure the dry weights of different organs to see where the photoassimilate allocated. By this approach you can study biomass partitioning as well.

That is called luxury consumption of K. It is known that potassium is usually required in large amounts by crops and is taken up much faster

than dry matter is accumulated by crops. for as long as you supplied enough K, it will be up taken but yield will not increase after the optimal amount o K required has been reached by the cotton plant. Regards.
