Steel has modulus value equal to 210 GPa at room temperature. When tensile test is conducted (without using extensometer) on the round specimen with gauge length equal to 16 mm. The engg. stress-strain curve slope shows less value (approx 70 GPa) of elastic modulus. Why? Can we report these results on scientific papers. (where extensometer was not used during test, instead of this percentagel elongation was calculated based on marking on gauge length?
