Heavy metals do not never degradate! They can be absorbed.

Remember that also absorption is always an equilibrium proces! Thus a real 100 % absorption is never achieved.

Sorption is an equilibrium reaction. If you didn't reduce the concentration in water enough, use more sorbent or even better, use treatment in series of repeated treatment - or make a column of the sorbent to remove the metal completely.
