Grey cast iron has a small amount of graphite that shouldn't be in nodular shape. By adding Magnesium (with less amount of Calcium) and Sulfur, the morphology changes to spherical. This morphology change could improve its properties very well, which usually researchers talk about this improvement. But why the morphology changes to spherical? Thanks in advance.
Because graphito keeps alone during liquid state, and in the case of ductil iron that have Mg in the bath, Mg form ballons that include graphito (Mg have a little superficial stress). So, graphito take spherical shape.
