Why does Taq polymerase non-template dependent activity which preferentially adds a single adenosine to the 3'-ends of a double stranded DNA molecule?

Taq polymerase also has terminal transferase activity. Of all of the four dNTPs this activity adds dA preferentially to the 3'end of the pcr product
