I spotted aqueous farnesyl pryophosphate ammonia salt on PEI cellulose TLC plate and then stained with iodine. About 1-2 hours after removing it from the iodine chamber, the outer ring, where the solvent front was, turns black. The inside is permanently stained brown. Why is it these two different colors and why didn't the brown spot fade away?

If it helps, the solvent front is also UV reactive but not the center.
