I've come accross many sources which states that Ni is an essential micronutirent, but Hoagland's solution does nit contain Ni. Also, I've cultivated alot of plants in Hoagland's solution (without Ni). I figured there must be some trace contaminents in the stock nutrient salts, but haven seen any? So do plants really need Ni?

If you are interested, I suggest having the solution tested to see how much of each intended element (and any contaminants) is in the mix. Just explain to your analyst which elements you are interested and what concentrations you expect. You might be interested to see what turns up.
Nickel is required at 0.1-0.2 mg/kg dry mass of plant tissue (0.1 parts per million), which is pretty low (but not absent). Depending on the quality of the Hoaglands solution ingredients, Ni might be present in sufficient amounts to satisfy the needs of the plant after seed stores have been exhausted. It takes a lot of effort to do this in the lab, so natural soils must be quite interesting chemically speaking to produce Ni-deficient plants.
Interestingly, wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoagland_solution suggests all plant essential elements are supplied by Hoagland's solution. That might need altering. Murashige and Skoog is another commonly used solution : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murashige_and_Skoog_medium, which also omits nickel , but adds cobalt, which hasn't been identified as essential and a number of vitamins. I think this was because it was adapted from microbiological culture media. Many hundreds or even thousands of experiments have successfully grown plants on these mixes, despite failing to supply Ni and adding extra Co.
