Why does Choroidal Neovascularization (CNV) grow in the eye?

What could be the possible reason to form the new vascularisation in the eye?

Exact patterns of early alterations, pathophysiology and development of CNV are still unknown. Different factors may play a role in terms of CNV development, including blood flow alterations, ischemia, inflammatory changes and damage to the blood-retinal barrier. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is one of the key factors, which is used in anti-VEGF therapy for CNV. Best regards
