Implicit within marriage is the expectation that a man will support a family in return for regular sex but sometimes discussion is needed. There needs to be more honesty about sex and we need to recognise that relationships are a compromise. Women need to know that sex is vitally important to men. Men worry that their desire for regular sex is threatened once a woman obtains a marriage certificate, once her family ambitions are fulfilled and once a family no longer depends on a man’s earnings.
