I was wondering if somebody has some leads that why do we need to re-calibrate spectral measuring devices often?
I think that this is done to take in account the changes in the physical structure of the measuring sensors with use over time. I would appreciate if you could provide some article references for the same.

Dear Aiman Raza the calibration (and re-calibration) is a natural maintenance task related to the measurement process, even it goes beyond the device. The essential supposition in the measurement process is that all of your measures are comparable. This supposes that your equipment is applying a compatible measurement method under similar instrumental conditions over time. Depending on the device, a frequent analysis to verify deviations against an ideal pattern is required for analyzing precision and accuracy. This will provide you with a certain level of reliability around the analyzed data at the moment where they need to support a decision.
