As makespan is the completion time of machine which has the maximum execution time and flowtime is sum of finalization time of all the jobs. In multi objective task scheduling problem, why do we consider the minimization of makespan and flowtime are contradictory objectives?
Hello, makespan is related to throughput. A high throughput can be obtained by avoiding setups. But this strategy might lead to long waiting times for some of the jobs. Therefore, the flow time will increase.

makespan or flowtime are the regular measures of performances which gauges the profitability or throughout of a production system.
in my algorithm makespan decrease but response time not change?why this accure?
