Happily, more and more men defer to women such as Fisher and Schwartz who have become much more active in this arena. Those who persist in that pattern tend to be locked into earlier models and education. There are a number of books either largely r exclusively by women, e.g 'The Anthropology of Women'. There is also an entire sub-field in my profession termed 'Feminist Anthropology'. I have no good idea why women publish less on male sexuality, perhaps they have less hubris, and may even be less likely to be Yankee fans. As you may suspect, I'm for the Red Sox.
Thanks Douglas. Fisher and Schwartz's handbook covers: "Measures relating to more than 50 topics are included. Examples are abortion, aging, arousal, general and specific attitudes and behavior, contraception, dysfunctions, education, experience, gender identity, homosexuality, ideology, jealousy, knowledge, masturbation, orgasm, rape, and sexually transmitted diseases." Nothing on sexual response. No one has researched sexual response since Kinsey and Hite. Their finding that female orgasm is associated with clitoral stimulation and female masturbation was extremely unpopular. Sexologists make money out of recommending lovemaking to women so as to provide for men's need for regular intercourse. There is no science - only politics. It is this propaganda that I am challenging. Women offer sex to obtain the rewards that men offer - affectionate companionship, financial benefits and support for family. There is no need for the world to fabricate accounts of female orgasm in situations where even a man would struggle. I am fighting this misinformation that causes so much distress to so many couples - searching for the mysterious female orgasm.
