APA changed it’s referencing style to incorporate some important APA-style citations. The latest version had four major changes namely the introduction of DOIs; a change to the rule on listing a URL when citing a webpage; the use on an ellipsis in place of “et al” (for > 7 authors) and the removal of including a retrieval date when citing a database article or website.
APA changes its referencing style to accommodate other references that constitute publication especially in the internet. Since there are new forms of social media avenues like blogsites, social networking sited and the like, APA needs to incorporate changes in admitting those references as credible sources of information.
