Why distilled aniline is added into the APS solution for preparing polyaniline ?However their is many literature who prepare the PANI without distilled aniline and got good conductivity ?
Of course aniline monomer should be homogenous prior to polymerization to produce conductive polyaniline, PANi. If it is simply being mixed, then the polymer network will not be too even and conductivity might compromise. (my 2 cent opinion).
It is preferable to distille aniline before polymerization in order to control the conductivity of polyaniline. Qualitatively, you can check whether the anilinline you get is fresh or not by looking at its colour. When it's fresh, it's a colorless or yellow liquid. Whereas, it becomes dark liquid when it's complexed or oxidized.
If you don't like the distillation process prior to polymerization, I recommend to start from anilinium hydrochloride which is a solid powder, less toxic than aniline and needs no distillation. There is a report of IUPAc describing the preparation of polyaniline from anilinium hydrochloride.
Thanks Yomen Atassi for valuable information, Is distilled aniline will affects only conductivity or some another property ? The available literature reports the higher conductivity of PANI even without distilled aniline.
