Since Adhanom, the master of WHO called CHOLERA an "acute watery diarrhea (AWD)" in order to hide the cholera epidemic statistics in the past, I will not be surprised if they are hiding COVID19 cases the same way, like "body heat assisted coughing syndrome (BHACS)". Or any other incomprehensible title, use your imagination.

I think there are two possible explanations. Immunity might have a say in the matter. More you are exposed to an agent, more you develop immunity (how acquired immunity works). If in reality Africa has lesser mortality, then acquired immunity through constant exposure to pathogens has much to do about. It is no surprise that some developing African countries have poor environmental conditions, lack of sanitation in certain areas as compared to the much developed European countries (No offence to any country). However constant exposure to infectious diseases might have made them more immune to severe outcomes of COVID-19 due to yet unknown factors. However the possibility of these figures to be merely accidental and fictitious can't be denied. Testing is not on war-footing level in developing countries as compared to leading nations. Moreover there may be under-reporting and missing data on morbidity and mortality due to COVID-19 in such countries. So possibility of either reason may be there and depends upon on-lookers perspective...!!

Little testing,less cases ,lesser death....moral of the story..

Anoint, thanks for expressing your view politely. I stand with you on the idea of acquired immunity as part of the answer. However, I do believe that inaccurate data collection would not stop overwhelming death rates, that would have resulted to a cry out for help as is happening with the insecurity status in Africa. Overwhelming death incidence can not be hidden as per what happened in USA and Italy. Thanks for your contributions.

@Gloria I want to argue against inaccurate data collection as the reason for Africa's low mortality. At the instant of poor data collection, there should have been a significant increase in community-base mortality.

Also, the severity of coronavirus like other respectory infections increases in the cold environment. Hence, I believe the topical climate is less favouabale for Coronavirus than that of the temperate.

I also think Africans have acquired immunity against which fights against coronavirus.

less testing leads to less mortality.. after seeing second wave and youngsters dying i dont think africa should have been saved by immunity.

If the normal/ annual death rate has increased significantly neither less testing nor more testing alone will stop the reflection. There will be outcry in COVD-19 pandemic countries. The outcry can not be hidden. The truth is that it is difficult to hide massive death in any part of the world, either developed or developing parts of the globe in this century of global internetting.

What happened in Italy, US, China and currently in India cannot be hidden and has not been stopped by massive testing either. Testing without appropriate therapy is as bad as not testing at all. At best, it informs on the magnitude of the already infected individuals in a given population. That alone will not stop or hide the massive death outcome among the susceptable population in any race. Science will not shy away from this question. What are the scientific explanations to these observations friends?

Etefia dear, if it were wrong data problem along the number of the dead on the streets and communities would have spoken for itself, if no other place in our University communities and health facilities. It would have been very overwhelming like in current India situation. Africans have great respect for human lives and so deep morning ceremonies for their dead. They could not have kept quite for unusual increase of death rate, Etefia. There would have voices from international Communities dwelling among them. It could not have been hidden by wrong data. There are answered other than wrong data friend. What are your thoughts?

My research in valley of kashmir,suggests no specific immunity protects.Less test leads to less cases.

Mohammad Sarwar Mir, I think it is beyond less testing because, you can agree with me that less testing could not have stopped more death. The Africans have be in use of ivermectin for over a decade, as well as other drugs of choice used for management COVID-19. I do believe these choice drugs used for the management of filariasis and some other tropical disease have high level of therapeutic effects that is capable of conferring a level of herd immunity despite the tropical temperature which is also adverse to it transmission dynamics of COVID-19 Virus. Again the traditional herbal used for malaria therapy were good enough to arrest the developmental processes of the Virus. It was neither less testing nor accident. Thanks.
