Recently I read a report that the USA, China, Britain, and France have a military base at Djibouti, Somali, and surrounding ports. The report showed that the United States has twenty-nine known military facilities in fifteen countries on the continent, while France has bases in ten countries. No other country from outside the continent has as many military bases in Africa. At least 13 foreign powers have a substantial military presence on the African continent. The US and France are at the forefront of conducting operations on African soil. In fact, Djibouti is the country that currently has the largest number of military installations in the world. This tiny African port state hosts eight overseas military bases. What makes it different from colonial times?
