When I tried to measure the BOD of treated wastewater with Fenton processes, the BOD5 curve (using Hach Trak II) just showed a significant increase after ~2.5 days.
This significant increase is not due to the possible presence of H2O2, because the initial wastewater with diffencent concentrations of H2O2 was measrued using BOD. This phenomenon was not repeated here.
According to the paper, 3kDa fraction of the paper mill effluent showed the same trend, but the majority component of my wastewater is humic acid (~1kDa).
Is there anyone who knows why?

I think this time is significant to give the microorganisms ability to consume the O2 from the sample.
There might have been some other inhibitory substances in the liquor that caused the delay; how did you innocculate the BOD test?; did the solution used contained the microbes degrading the paper mill wastewater?; if not they first need some time (lag) for acclimatisation; more on BOD can be found in file enclosed.
