Hi good day to everyone! I am actually studying the gel content of synthetic latex. Refer to ASTM 3616, gel content is measure of insoluble rubbers in the chosen solvent. So, I just would like to make sure is the "insoluble rubbers" indicate the gel form? And if higher gel content does it means higher cross link happened in the synthetic latex tested? For your informtation I am doing the gel content test for raw synthetic latex.

Dear Yap Yu Hon, yes, but it means both forms of crosslinked: chemical (permanent bond) and physical (entanglements). This latter occurs only when the average MW exceeds a critical threshold one. My Regards

Please allow me to ask more questions. I am actually a chemist in a Quality Assuarance department in a glove manufacturing company. So, checking of the gel content for raw synthetic latex actually helps me to know roughly how much cross linked polymers are there inside the latex, and higher the gel content means higher amount of cross linked happened, which indicates that the products produced after should be in higher strength and more tough; while the one with lower gel content will be more elastic and soft? Am I right with this statement?
Also, may I know the details of the process of how the latex swollen and form gel when react with respetive solvents?
