Assuming you know Semi conservative mode of replication .. it provides a template to new strand so that chances of mutation could be omitted.
same for degeneracy of codon if only one codon code for a particular amino acid it would be difficult to cope up with mutation. you know mutations happens and they are of different types. i would not go in deep. think about silent mutations due to Degeneracy they are silent if only one codon code for particular amino acid these mutations would not be silent they may be lethal to organism...
