Many of the proteins appearing in www.proteinatlas.org that are located in mitochondria, are observed (through fluorescence) as fibrils. What is the nature of these fibrils? Is it some kind of "beads on a string" where mitochondria are connected together with the antibody? Any better explanations?

Examples can be found in the following links:

Thanks in advance for any input!
