"Why and how can differentiate between meta-cognition and meta- learning?
1) Why differentiate between meta-cognition and meta- learning? Scientific and educational progress, to only mention two examples, get ahead and go further, for instance, due to conceptual clarifications.
2) How can meta-cognition be differentiated from meta-learning?
Globally speaking, meta-cognition means "cognition about cognition", and meta- learning means "leaning about learning." In this vein, we can say that any act of meta-learning is an act of meta-cognition, but not all meta-cognitive acts are acts of meta-learning,
PS: The seminal work by the USA psephologist John Flavell and his colleagues on meta-cognition, meta-memory, and the like is here a "must".
Globally speaking, I like reading your posts. But your last post has an idea that puzzles me a lot.
Your wrote: "The processes (i.e.,meta-cognition and meta-learning) are identical but distinct."
With due respect, if two processes are identical they can never be distinct, only equal. I am afraid that you are quarreling with words and in lack of conceptual clarification.
I truly sorry. However, for the above mentioned reason., I can't recommend your post.
I hope you take this comment as a positive and constructive remark.
Metacognition is the cognitive functions are self or personal whereas metlearning are the process by which persons ability to acquire different skills.
I think metacognition is the inniate process of brain and mind. Whereas metalearning is the process how to our mind envolove in the learning the things. The mind is little bit different with brain as mind may define as outcome of brain.
In last we assume that metacognition is as brain and metalearnig is a mind.
