I am using Abaqus/explicit model to simulate reaction of a steel frame/concrete slabs building to a combination of loads. I connected all of the beams and columns on each floor with a tie constraint and applied pressure and gravity forces.However, when I ran the simulation for just one floor, I did not get any stress distribution in the model. I then tried to try to simulate loading on just one fixed at one end beam and got the result that can be seen in the picture attached. Clearly, there is something wrong with my model but I can't find it. What could cause that?

Homogeneous Solid
Steel
Density : 7.85e-9;Elastic - E=210e3,PR = 0.3; Plastic YS =400,Plastic Strain=0
The loads applied are :
Gravity=-9807mm/s^2 ; Pressure = 0.0025 N/mm^2

Your problem is dynamic (since you use explicit). Therefore,what you are actually simulating is a free-falling steel bar (force-free) that is suddenly clamped at one end. What you see is probably nothing but the elastic wave initialized by this. Run the simulation for a longer time to see how the stress develops.
In general, I would highly recommend not to use explicit for what is essentially a static problem. Use implicit with *Static, or with *dynamic, application=quasi-static instead.

besides the "dynamic Problem" and the short Simulation time, are gravity and load applied in x direction? The pressure of 0.0025 N/mm2 is only 25 mbar which would be a fraction of atmospheric pressure variations. Is the value so small by purpose?
