I came across a simulation in which 3-phase wave forms (a,b & c) for line current (a TL connecting two buses in an electric grid) performs the 3-ph to positive sequence transformation to measure Mag and Phase while a 3 phase fault is introduced at one of the buses in the interconnected system.

Can someone please explain the significance of why this is done? and how is this analysis beneficial for fault analysis?
