We could use following equation to calculate γ- phase percentage and β- phase percentage in PVDF:
F(β) = Xβ / (Xα+Xβ) = Aβ / [(Kβ/Kα)Aα+Aβ]
F(γ) = Xγ / (Xα+Xγ) = Aγ / [(Kγ/Kα)Aα+Aγ]
Now I want to know is it important to calculate both γ- and β- phase percentage in PVDF nanocomposite to show an enhancement in piezoelectric effect (becouse between 5 different phases in PVDF just β- and γ- polymorph are piezoelectricity active) or we should just calculate one of them and thats enough to show an enhancement in piezoelectric effect?
It is the part of the professional ethics in science to describe your sample as completely as possible. Also, taking into account that it is not so easy do distinguish different phases of PVDF, I would recommend to make analysis using two independent techniques and compare the results.
