Sometime, the first author is not the corresponding author, and the quality of the work is shared between the authors but still the first author has a major role in the work, the corresponding author could be the head or senior. How could we clarify this matter.
Ethically, if found, both are responsible for the manuscript but with regard to the comments, manuscript acceptance and review process, the corresponding author is the one who is responsible for the paper and usually the corresponding author is a senior, head of the group or the department where the work is done. In this case, the first author, for example, can be a postgraduate student or an assistant researcher but most of the work has been carried out by him. Is it true with collaborative authorship?

There are two schools of thought:
1- the first name is that of the Ph.D. student who mainly does the work and the corresponding author is the team leader, usually the last name. This approach prevails in some scientific disciplines;
2- the first name is the leader of the team, while the corresponding author is a next name. The latter is the one who takes the burden to enter on line material. In the journals of large publishing houses, placing on line is a tedious job that requires precision computing. Generally this task is done by young researchers.
Often, the responses of Jounal come suddenly and require a timely response. The correspondent should be promptly on line to meet the dictates of the publisher. It may be that one expects months and then suddenly the publisher wants proofreading or control of the texts or the rewriting of a native speaker. Only a young researcher can have this alertness on the web needed while avoiding the coronary arteries burst to less young people.
It should there be a rule to understand how to assess the publication on the basis of the actual contribution, but it is a difficult problem. Not necessarily those who put the name has had some role in the development of the same. It is not obvious that all true authors appear. But it is especially difficult to quantify the qualitative contribution of ideas that can be really important.
