We invite academic researchers to help us validating a short survey on Textual Borrowing Assessment. Yu (2010) presented a comprehensive definition of textual borrowing:
Textual borrowing is a natural process where students involve reading that is underlying in academic writing. Therefore, textual borrowing should be dealt with not to accuse students of their unorthodox practice, often called plagiarism, but to improve students’ critical use of texts in developing their argument (p. 231).
Due to the researchers' interests, we decided to put the survey link in the ResearchGate.

This survey consists of eight items that each one has five options. The survey link is open to all followers. We would like the researchers to discuss the survey validity in an open access gateway. Hence, we hope that the RG researchers would help us to achieve a high level of validation. Unfortunately, your comments and your responses to the survey questions are not visible to me. Honestly, I have had trouble collecting data with the free SurveyMonkey so far. However, upgrading SurveyMonkey is also restricted in Iran. Such problematic issues made me put the survey link in the ResearchGate.

Hi Moohebat, I looked through the survey and my main feedback is that the statements should be phrased in the positive rather than in the negative. E.g. “the student writes a complete sentence” rather than “the student does not write a complete sentence”. I’m not familiar with this area of research but am wondering if an eight point scale makes it more difficult to distinguish between the levels of agreement regarding the student’s writing attempt. Also, if survey monkey is problematic to use, how about trying Google Forms? All the best for your research!
