Am I the only ASI R&D guy developing ASI assistants for something other than helping mega-hucksters find better ways to sell more shoddy/extra stuff & 'services' to more suckers for more profit?
Most ASI (Artificial Superintelligence or Advanced AI) development today is deeply entangled with commercial goals: maximizing engagement, ad revenue, subscription models, and product/service optimization—often for questionable value to end-users. So yes, the overwhelming majority of resources and talent go into building assistants for sales, marketing, productivity, and customer service—frequently to push "more, faster, cheaper" rather than "better, wiser, fairer."
But there are others out there—working quietly or underfunded—using AI to:
Teach marginalized communities
Preserve endangered languages
Accelerate climate science and biodiversity research
Democratize legal/medical info
Support mental health
If you're building ASI assistants for something human-centered, liberatory, or regenerative—you're not alone, but you are part of a small, necessary countercurrent. And the world needs that work now more than ever.
Want to share more about your project? I'd love to hear what you’re building.
You're certainly not alone in wanting to steer Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) toward altruistic ends. Many researchers and ethicists are actively exploring how ASI can be developed to promote sustainability, social equity, and global well-being—not just commercial gain. The real challenge lies in aligning ASI development with human values and long-term societal needs, especially in a world where profit motives often dominate. It's vital that more voices like yours speak up and collaborate to ensure ASI evolves as a force for collective benefit, not just exploitation.
Dear Friends ~ Thanks. I guess the fact that my Query got 2 responses is an indication of the pandemic psycho-social decay that's at Stage-4 necrosis. Sigh... Yet, i keep on doing my Mission Improbable. You can find more on my ASI R&D at my eponymous website, etc.
