Who decided doctorates had to be so difficult to get? The priority may have became navigating bureaucracy over academic rigor and original contributions. Scientific stagnation is so high. A common argument is that PhDs are not worth so much these days. But sometimes doctorates are the ONLY credentials that will have someone's work taken seriously.
