Is there any methods to measure pH values at high-temperature (150C). The common pH probe uses liquid inside the glass prob, which may boil during the test. I would like to find a new predictive method to read pH at harsh conditions.
Temperature plays a significant role on pH measurements. As the temperature rises, molecular vibrations increase which results in the ability of water to ionise and form more hydrogen ions. As a result, the pH will drop. pH decreases with increase in temperature. At 100C, a pH value of 6.14 on the pH scale at this higher temperature. I am not sure about the pH values above boiling point of water is possible.
Thank you for your valuable answer. But what about using high boiling point liquids such as Mono ethylene glyicol? I think we can keep the liquid phase for MEG upto 130C.
