Yes, there are some limitations in online classes but still:
1. People can participate from a large distance,
2. No environmental pollution due to transportation,
3. Record keeping for the next time uses,
4. Own-pace learning.
Considering all the above I like an online class
But:
1. These are resource bounding like power, device
2. Skills
3. Depending on the situation, etc.
Conclusion: Nonetheless of all factors above,
Online classes may be continued for senior students, especially for the theory courses. I think and to the best of my knowledge some universities may have the practice of online classes AND this is very tiny in number.
You raised a relevant issue to discuss. May I argue distance education courses are here to stay. I am worried about how the COVID-19 situation is about to evolve in China.... I use for example the BrightTALK-platform. It is free to register there and they provide wide range of free courses:
a) To register please visit: https://www.brighttalk.com/join/
b) Please see one of the communities: https://www.brighttalk.com/communities/research-and-development/ >>>>

Distance education existed long before Covid-19, not to confuse distance education with the remote teaching that was done in the pandemic in most cases. In Brazil, distance education in higher education has already surpassed enrollments in face-to-face courses. The trend is to strengthen distance education and face-to-face education to become a hybrid.
Well, I sometimes deliver courses for Master's degree work in education. However, I have observed that these graduate teachers still have a lot of difficulties in writing scientifically and lack the skills to address an educational problem in context.
I have been working with the Pioneer Program which gets very talented young students from an international pool. Last year, I had students from India, China, the USA, and Zambia. It is rewarding to watch them participate in the course material, but even more rewarding to watch them bond across different languages, political systems and ethnicities.
Distance Education is a large part of academic courses and educational programs. Cirka 100.000 studenter study online/distance courses and about 250.000 study at campus mainly program-/courses. It´s prohibited to sell comercial academic courses to indiviual students in Sweden. To study academic at university and universtiy college is cost-free.
95% of our courses are online - Bachelor's and Master's with certificates and micro-credentials on the way. Any college with half it's brain tied behind its back should be teaching online. Wait, maybe you shouldn't - more students for us, lol
In our case, at the Faculty of Education of the University of Extremadura, master's degrees, training and improvement courses for doctoral students and teacher training are taught virtually. E-learning helps us to have a greater scope in training and reduce costs.
Thank you for your answer Maricel Mojica Its nice that many colleges are still using distance education over Phillippines.. Its not being used in Cyprus as often as before.
The program in which I teach at Creighton University was designed as an online program from the beginning. It works very well to serve the students, who are all at the doctoral level and are working during the day. They also come from around the country and the world. I do not see distance learning ever going away at this point, but I do think it will be balanced, particularly in the undergrad world, with distance learning at higher levels of education.
I work at the Open University and we are the largest, global distance education provider. We have been doing distance learning before and after the pandemic.
distance education has existed for centuries and after covid it only got stronger. In Brazil, distance education surpassed face-to-face enrollments. Do not confuse remote teaching with distance education. In the case of the remote it only happens in more particular situations, it is not constant.
Thank you for your answers. I am one of the teachers who believe distance education can be very efficient and effective if and only if it is used properly by skilled teachers
