We are going to simulate scheduling of independent tasks in WSN which are transmitting packets to each-other based on cloud infrastructure. I want to evaluate performance of current network. Therefore, which simulator would you prefer based on the general information I provide here?
For the most detailed simulation the best approach is to write your own code. Otherwise I would recommend ns2 with the LEACH extensions available from other researchers. Often you find that the simulator does not model your situation or the level of 'detail' is not appropriate. I can be very efficient to code your protocol and you will gain great insight and understanding about its operation. Also if you write your own random traffic generators and do your own data analysis you will have greater confidence in your results. Examples of traffic generation and result analysis are out there to build upon.
well, so, can we simulate as 2d or 3d plots like variation of each performance parameter to compare them with other parameters in NS2?
For task scheduling and packet transmission across a partially connected mesh network i would most definitely recommend writing your own code. Start with building blocks such as the autonomous operation of a node (sensor) - ie its communication protocol, and the generation of data to be sent.
To say frankly NS2 has been experimented well round the globe and has got enormous recgonition. Also cloud is only your application domain, not the core. hence go for network simulators.

well, NS2 could be applied for simulation of cloud environment, it depends on you how to create cloud parameters.
