Which variable data should be used for inflation in India? The CPI (Combined) is available only from 2011. And WPI, and GDP deflator is not a good indicator.
I need quarterly data from 2004Q1-2022Q4 (June 2003-Mar 2022).
there is CPI-IW and CPI-AL statistics ran by the Bureau of Labor of India, that has all the data that you need. Unfortunately this bureau has changed the base year three times from the year 2001 until 2022 (BY 1982, 2001, and latest 2016). So if you need one full, holistic, view on the CPI (you are probably looking for CPI of industrial workers, IW) then you will need to set one base year. It is a pain in the ass to look through the documents (primary sources), but if you are tough enough it is worth it.
