I am in the process of applying for a Ph.D. in business, and I was wondering which type of writing sample should I add to my application?
A sample of your scholarly writing (10-20 pages in length). This may be a chapter of your master's thesis or a paper written for a graduate course.
As I have a non-thesis master’s degree, I am unsure what I can add as a writing sample.
One of my friends said it is better to add a case study, but I don't know which case study would be appropriate to consider as a writing sample.
Moreover, The deadline is approaching, and I am worried about the time.
Can I have added a business plan that I have written during my Mba program?? I was wondering If it consists of some pictures of financial statements and graphs, is it still okay to be considered as a writing sample?

Often, a course-based MA program has a research or practicum component to each offered course, such as a review paper or small-scale practice-relevant investigation write-up. Either can be fine acting as a sample of your scholarly writing since the purpose could be checking how you accommodate the conventions of academic writing. The following might be of interest.

I think the University is trying to test whether you can indeed write well and more specifically in an academic style. They will also be interested if you can grasp academic arguments, identify gaps in the literature and show that you can make a contribution.
I would suggest that you would be better sending in one of your MBA assignments that is well referenced.
