Which type of port (Wave port/Lumped port) should be applied to antenna when it is mounted on Phantom model?
I modelled a co-axial fed antenna in HFSS for WBAN applications. It resonates at 5.8 GHz . I want to test the antenna when it is placed on tissue equivalent phantom. How to consider radiation box in this case?
If the excitation is at the edge of the solution space you can use a wave port, otherwise a lumped port. If your antenna is coax-fed you can probably move the cable to the edge of the solution space and use a wave port.
The radiation box should cover the antenna and the tissue.
this depends on where you are excited; where the waveports can only be applied to external boundary (at the edge of the solution space), but the lumped ports can be applied to both external and internal (if the geometry or material discontinuities are near or closer to the point of excitation you can used the lumped port)
I think that in CST a waveguide port (which includes coax) can be used against a metal wall, so can be used inside the problem, not only at the boundaries.
Any antenna solution which does not include the feed you intend to use may be significantly wrong.
It is not just the shape of the feed field that is affected by modelling the feed correctly, but the position of the cable feeding the antenna, which can radiate and change the antenna pattern. If you use a lumped port in your antenna you won't know if the feed cable radiates.
