Generally we find out the Anti-diarrhoeal activity of plant extract through castrol oil induced diarrhoea test, enterpooling, GIT motility time test. which one is most easy & accurate?
Generally, two methods are used: (1) the castor oil method and (2) Gastrointestinal Motility Test. The castor oil method is easy to use and more accurate.
Castor oil produces ricinoleic acid leading to irritation, inflammation of intestinal mucosa, and ultimately diarrhea. At this condition, prostaglandins stimulate gastrointestinal motility and secrete water and electrolytes. It is also well established that loperamide inhibits diarrhea induced by castor oil
The Gastrointestinal Motility Test (charcoal passage test ) is used to determine the effect of test substance on gut motility.

First of all we must be clear about these two commonly interchangeable terms i.e. accuracy and precision. Accuracy refers to the closeness of a measured value to a standard or known value while precision refers to the closeness of two or more measurements to each other. Precision is independent of accuracy.
Now, antidiarrheal activity on Castor oil-induced diarrhea in mice or rats is an accurate model in contrast to Gastrointestinal motility test by charcoal meal and antisecretory assay by misoprostol induced diarrhea that are models of precision.
Please find attached a research publication on antidiarrheal efficacy in mice model for ur persual.
I shall share with you my research paper on antidiarrheal efficacy of a polyherbal formulation in wister albino rat model as soon as it gets published, as it is in active review process currently.
