As my analysis is based on a crimping step where NLGEOM=on(thus including non-linear effects due to large plastic deformations), the software Abaqus Standard/Explicit 6.16 is not able to display the Total strain components(E) although it is requested in the Field Output Requests. I could not find which among the strain components Logarithmic Strain(LE),Plastic Strain(PE),Elastic Strain(EE),Inelastic Strain(IE),Nominal Strain(NE) will be appropriate to be used to predict failure due to crimping of nitinol super-elastic plastic stent.

Since you have selected NLGEOM=on it means that you should refer to nonlinear strain component which in this case is logarithmic Strain (LE). If you have defined the plastic behavior of material in properties module and you can see during deformation, the material has passed yielding point (by comparing maximum mises stress and yiled stress of your material) you might want to check the plastic strain (PE) as it indicates permanent deformation of material after unloading. If it shows zero in ABAQUS, it simply means that you either have not set up plasticity during modelling or it has not reached yield point.

Hello, I have a question related, I'm working in plane strain plastique deformation in the Xy plane, so the stress in z should be Gzz=(Gxx+Gyy)/2.
why do I have PE33 non equal to zero if the displacement in Z direction is zero? I found that stress relationship is not accomplished. Should I think that there is an error?
Diego Luis Britez There is a error, actually! if your model is in 2D (z) is negligent … even when you are input the predefined field, should be zero, even if you input some value, and submit the job you will see Abaqus will send a message as is a "2D".. but if is in 3D, you should have a impact on PE33,
