My project's survey includes 21 linker scale questions where; 1 = Not at all; 2 = Slightly; 3 = Moderately; 4 = Very; 5 = Extremely. I have gathered around 70 responses for each question and i would like to do a few correlations between questions to see if there is any relationship between them. The title of the research project is ’'Evaluation of Pharmaceutical laboratory ethics in Cyprus’’ and one of the hypothesis i would like to test is whether there is a relationship between the degree of work pressure and the degree of ethical issue in the laboratory departments of pharmaceutical companies.
How do i go about it ? Do i use parametric or non parametric tests?
What test/tests are ideal to compare the relationship of the two?
p.s Even though i know that one variable (degree of ethical issue) is dependent on the other (degree of work pressure), do i take it into consideration when i chose the test or i should I just assume that they are both independent?
If I read your question right, you have a set of data and you are trying to find, whether the work ethics somehow depends on the work pressure. Thus, you are trying to prove these two are correlated, not dependent.
You may wish to use multiple regression and non-parametric tests, simply because the distribution of your variables is not known a-priori.
I strongly suggest you consult a good measurement textbook, such as Douglas W. Hubbard's "How to measure anything".
