You've only narrated the type of the data but not the objectives of your study. Based on the objectives of the study, methodology is adopted. As far as, data on scale is concerned, both metric and non-metric test can be applied.

So, I have prepared a question based on that, and marked all possible solutions for that problem as the answers (Likert scale based), to know about the perceptions of the respondents if our proposed solutions can be put forward in the future.

Now, it's difficult to decide which tests should go with it.

It depends on the research objective. You can do t-test, ANNOVA, Regression test, etc. depending on your objective.

Sheersha Pramanik, from the information you have provided, I find it difficult to see exactly what you have asked your participants. If you have simply listed a range of solutions for a disease (or diseases), that does not constitute a Likert set of options. You have merely provided as set of options. Likert options are usually in the form of strongly disagree to strongly agree.

From what I can understand given your information, your options are not of that kind.

Maybe people could help you more if you were to give an example of one of your questions and options. Would that be possible - please?

A patient named Bhagat was diagnosed with refractory cardiac arrest after being on ventilation. Doctors noted symptoms like hypertension and bradycardia. This might have been caused by tension pneumothorax due to rupture of weakened alveoli or pre-existing blebs. This condition, called barotrauma, occurs due to increased pressure inside the lungs by ventilators. What can be the possible solutions to barotrauma? (Rate- 1=strongly disagree, 2= disagree, 3=neutral, 4=agree, 5=strongly agree)

i. Surgical decompression

ii. Treatment of underlying pulmonary diseases

iii. Manual pressure regulation in the ventilator

iv. Artificial intelligence (using pressure sensors)

Sheersha Pramanik, thanks for getting back. That's quite helpful. In light of this, I think that, much as others have tried to help you with their posts above, those posts are probably not appropriate other than the ones that indicated it was important to be clear about your research questions.

In fact, despite moving forward (thanks, again, for providing the information in your most recent post), I think your research questions are not clear.

These things can be a bit complicated - and forgive me if I seem a bit obtuse.

Can you indicate, say, for your example above, whether there is only one solution that is correct, and whether you want to see how many of your participants strongly agree about that one solution, how many merely agree, how many disagree, etc.? Or maybe do you also want to find out, for each the four solutions you've provided, the extent of agreement concerning them as being the solution?

In essence, what are you really trying to find out?

Just quickly, I doubt that coefficient alpha (often misguidedly referred to as Cronbach's alpha) will be relevant - but please feel free to defend your use of it.

Also, I don't know what the response of "neutral" might mean in your situation. Might an options such as "Don't know" have been better?

Thank you for providing some light on my query.

All the options provided are correct for that specific question.

These options are our proposed solutions.

Now, we want to know the perception of the respondents if they think the same or not. If their thought and our thought matches, then to what extent ( and for that we used Likerts scale).

Perhaps I should take more time to think about the best form of analysis that you should aim for, but at the moment I get the feeling that you could analyse your data in quite a simple manner, e.g., by seeing how many of your participants responded in which kind of way (i.e., extent of agreement) to each of the (correct answers that you offered.

Would that match your aims?

Yes, I have already got the data in a simple way.

The % of responses in each section already depicted which of these correct solutions is the most suitable.

But, I wanted to learn if any other significant statistical test can be further used for the same purpose to achieve the same objective. I am just a beginner in statistical field.

I just need to have some more data for getting into a good journal.

If you could suggest some, it would be of great help. I will learn the tutorials and will proceed. ( Using SPSS 26.0).
