I am looking for studies that compared soil texture results obtained from field tests (ribbon test, jar test, throw-the-ball test, sausage test, etc.) with results obtained from laboratory.
Have you heard of such studies and, more generally, which field method would you recommend as the most accurate?

Soil texture is one of the physical property of soil. This property will not change very easily. It will be calculated by several methods. Most of those methods gives indirect idea about texture. However, my opinion is that texture not change easily so more precise method gives us accurate rwault is labouratory method.
On the field, simply fill method you can use for determination of soil textures and most critically by international pipette method in the laboratory.

No way to simply answer your question.
Because :
1/ field test are operator-dependent : YOU have to choose the methodology and the texture triangle (the number of class in the triangle you'll choose also depends on your ability and experience) according to the correpondance between your feeling and some soil analyses you have or will performed. As instance, with colleagues, we compare our feelings of texture : I generally underestimated sand fraction, another silt one... moreover
2/ generalization was not possible, because we didn't misestimate similarly according to the parent material : the presence of organic matter, of micas... will change the perception of the real granulometry. Considering their presence, operators will correct their feelings of texture according to experience. And any methodology could here help you...
To end with : take some soil sample of different materials and texture. Analyse them. Try different soil texture field test and select that which gives you generally the best estimation.
Besides, International Pipette Method, Hydrometer method can also be used to get grain size analysis or texture.
two methods of textural determination is laboratory methods and field methods. laboratory methods, as the the procedures of fractionation and sedimentation procedures are tedious and time consuming we preferred to go for field method i.e texture by feel method (ribbon method) if more number of samples are there... but the repetitivity of this method depends on experience of personnel.
