I remember using MoldFlow years ago for plastic injection. But I guess you can change the properties of the plastic to those of the metal you’re casting. The software was pretty strait-forward to work with. I hope it helps.

I have used Magma software for sand casting and gravity die casting in the past. I think if you have sand conductivity and mechanical characteristics the software would provide answers that you are looking for. Also, this software would assist with design of runner system, solidification and required feeders, phase upon solidification, turbulence, etc.

Unfortunately, the software is quite expensive, however one-off simulations can be organized.
