I think the issue of corruption and mismanagement, domestic violence, discrimination against women and young girls and household rape are one of the main issues from my own case study.

In a word, there appears to be a conflation of poverty, poor housing and risk of exposure to the Covid 19 virus.

The level of injustice and inequality vary among countries or locations.

In my country, I notice:

1. People above fifty years of age and above have higher risk of contracting the virus and should limit their movements. However, this appears to be applicable to the poor. The rich and affluent move freely irrespective of their age.

2. Where the use of facemask is made compulsory, not every one appear to be held liable for breach.

In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, older individuals who were above the retirement age and who had pre-existing health issues and medically treatable problems, and therefore, were living in elderly care 24/7 nursing homes, had the highest rates of viral infection and mortality. The point to observe here is that age in and of itself was not the one and only high infection rate causal factor! There had to be (1) a pre-existing health problem, which, in turn, required (2) around-the-clock medical care services, which are available in (3) nursing care facilities that are (4) residential.

Regarding (1) a pre-existing health problem - this means that the individuals had weakened immune systems, not based on their age, but on their individual medical diagnoses. Many elderly people were not living in nursing care homes and did not get the novel COVID-19 virus.

Regarding (2) the necessity for professional, certified medical care 24/7 indicates that the individual's weakened immune system is the single most significant factor.

Regarding (3)(4) permanently living in a nursing care facility - this means that individuals are living on a 24/7 basis in a communal living environment, in close proximity to each other.

Regarding (1), (2), (3) and (4): The advanced age of persons in an elderly nursing care facility may be traced to the pre-arrangements for the traditional provision of institutionalized medical care according to age, which is, then, reflective of the way medical care is administered in many countries. Scientific studies may have shown that it is the most efficient and effective way to provide care, that is, based on age, as opposed to, for example, the pre-existing medical condition diagnosed.

Another factor is the economic backgrounds of individuals who happened to be living in elderly nursing care facilities at the time when the COVID-19 epidemic began. As indicated above in another answer, the issue of "social injustice" may be applied in certain circumstances for the simple reason that wealthy individuals would be more likely to be able to afford an around-the-clock Registered Nurse in their homes, and therefore, would not be living in an institutional medical care environment, in which private rooms and individually assigned Registered Nurses are very rare, possibly non-existent.

As the COVID-19 pandemic has spread like wild fire, patients of all ages have been admitted to hospitals that have had to set aside sections of beds reserved for COVID-19 patients who are quarantined in different locations, away from patients who are being treated for Non-COVID-19 medical problems.

In my opinion, the non-wealthy elderly who caught COVID-19 in elderly nursing care homes are not victims of social injustice because under pre-COVID-19 conditions, decisions were made to provide optimal care for elderly, which meant assigning them to receive care from Registered Nurses, aides, and doctors, especially provided for their category based on age in facilities not intended for epidemics, i.e., intended for patients with a wide variety of medical conditions, some of which were age-related, e.g., heart problems, stroke, non-congenital diabetes, crippling rheumatoid arthritis, and other non-contagious ailments which have become more common because medical science has enabled people to live longer. Increased longevity increases the probability that any given individual will need elder care services, whether provided by family members or nursing care facilities.

Rich people are enjoying during Covid-19 also and all rules and regulations are only for middle class and poor. Particularly poor is facing difficulties to survive due to pandemic.

Lack of basic necessities to poor. Online education to childrens not affording social networking. Poor people not being hospitalised in private / good hospitals.

Covid-19 has added an additional factor of discrimination. Lockdown has affected much more the most vulnerable, i.e. those who had a precarious situation, either an unskilled work or an informal one. They found themselves with no income overnight and even their meagre savings have now come to an ending while the crisis is only in its beginning. Their chlidren have also been the most affected by the closure of schools: they are not or ill equipped with computers, not or ill connected to internet, have homes less adequate to homeschooling and parents not necessarily able to help them. They are more dependent on their presence at school to learn than the richer children. This crisis is very likely to widen dangerously the already existing gaps, besides creating new poors.

Challenges with accessing online education

Social injustices/inequity issues were present before of the pandemic, now they are increasing and we can notice everyday. First, access to Health, Education, Energy, Job.

Gap is increased between poor and rich and ultimately created basic problem in front of society

In our study, we have noted that although the virus is an equal opportunity offender, the prevention through remote work (from home), availability and use of personal protective equipment such as masks/shields, and access to care for the management of COVID-19 when infected puts poor and disenfranchised at disadvantage.

There have been multiple cases of rape and racial discrimination

An increase in the poverty levels in third-world countries is also social inequity issue caused by the COVID-19 era

Social constraints in the COVID-19 pandemic force individuals to adapt to isolation and increase the prevalence of violence in the family, depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
