There are a variety of simulation platforms for WSN. I want to know which is better when studying routing protocols in wireless multimedia sensor network. Richness of source codes, functions of the software and applicability to WMSNs are important issues for me.
You can go for WiSE-MNet: an experimental environment for wireless multimedia sensor networks
I would suggest ns2 and ns3. According to reliability and validity there are the best simulators. Main important thing, you can get the help easily from others if you stuck somewhere. Because of these reasons, I would suggest ns2 and ns3. One more thing, If you are working with multimedia traffic, great simulator called Evalvid, can be joint with ns2 and ns3. I thing it works with omnet as well but not sure. Evalvid is used to evaluate your multimedia traffic.
Go for Castalia and OMNET++ including M3WSN module which is designed to simulate Multimedia based applications. I have used this module in my own work. More detail about the M3WSN module can be found here:

OMNET, OPNET r NetSim would be more helpful...with wide range og sensor module support....
OMNET with INET or MANET frameworks has a lot of implemented and well-tuned routing algorithms such as AODV and others
I have found NetSim (http://www.tetcos.com) to be very useful for this
Both NS2 & NS3 have Pros and Cons
According to project and research specifications
NS3 it's built from the scratch to replace NS2.
Recommend NS3 for new projects according to nam support.
Unless there are compelling reasons to use NS2.
