In literature there are so many satellite data products given such as MODIS, Sentinel 1 and 2, Radarsat, Landsat-TM used. However, I am unable to understand which satellite product should I use for flood inundation mapping in my case.
Flood inundation is traditionally mapped using InSAR imagery. There is plenty of Sentinel-1 examples in the literature.
However, high resolution multispectral imagers like Sentinel-2 in association with water indices (AWEI, NDWI, MNDWI, WI) can be used.
I prefer Sentinal-2 Data is better to help to study flood inundation.

The Sentinel (S1A and S2A) data are suitable products for flood inundation mapping. In addition, the SRTM (DEM) provides the elevation data.

You man use Sentinel-1, if you are familiar with SAR processing. Or you may use Sentinel-2, if you are familiar with high resolution multi-spectral images. Both the data-sets has their own advantages and limitations. You must see what is your aim of study, and what resources you have to process the data.
