Most communities in New Mexico have families lacking access to vital services for surviving and thriving including: medical care, mental healthcare, food security programs, housing security programs and transportation to vital services (considering the social determinants of health). What's required are local and state strategies to ensure access to vital services in rural and urban New Mexico.
In public health research, strategies for transforming adverse social determinants of health into positive ones at the state and local levels have been identified. These include community interventions, policy changes, and targeted resource allocation focusing on healthcare access, mental health services, food security, housing stability, and transportation. Prioritizing evidence-based interventions is crucial for promoting equitable health outcomes in communities.
