You've posed an interesting question. I am (mainly as a lecturer) struggling with a specific question whether team projects done by students during courses (like Strategic Analysis) help them to develop the teamwork skills. I see many cases that they don't and even do the opposite.

2.Look for references on on-the-job training. There was a book in, I think, the 1980s on the importance of on-the-job training; the author was an MIT economist who was then a dean. Sorry forgot the names of the book and the author. I think that the words "on the job training" did not appear in the title of the book.
